Writing Freedom!
I’m now at work on my next novel in the MCKONNA RANCH SERIES. This second novel concerns the McKonna family in Oregon territory about ten years later at the beginning of the Civil War. I’m really excited about the growth of the characters since the first novel, beginning in 1851.
For the novel I’m now writing, I’m trying a different approach, which so far I like. After having completed a typed outline, I’m writing the first draft using a notebook and pen. There’s an added freedom in doing this, I find, since for this first draft I’m allowing words to flow without censoring myself as much as I normally do on computer. Also, because I also have a full time teaching job, it’s very convenient to pick up my notebook when I have a few moments to write. Hopefully I’ll be able to read my writing when I type the second draft on computer (smile).
